Our Day
muckabout uses the Learning for Justice Standards as a road map for anti-bias education.
muckabout is a member National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and we adhere to their Program Standards.
muckabout believes a preschool environment should greet each child with an abundance of possibilities.
Our preschool program takes a learn-through-playing approach; teaching early academic and social-emotional learning through play and exploration.
We make an offering of spaces, supplies, time, and hearty encouragement so that children can invent, explore, and chase grand ideas.
We provide literacy, math, and art centers focused around our Anchor Books, and open-ended Reggio Emilia-inspired “provocations” at the Discovery Table, Art Table, and Manipulatives Table.
We gather in our circle times and delve into Ideas inspired by our monthly anchor books. There we share songs, stories, conversations, music, and movement.
Play happens in all areas of muckabout; up in the loft, tucked in cozy corners, under tables, and on rugs. Outdoors we use big muscles to run and climb on stumps or sail away in a boat or cook dinner for queens and kings in our Mud Kitchen. We build forts, play with water, and enjoy messy art projects
